Hon Ken Wyatt READ Rocky and Louie!
This book came about after I toured the East Kimberley visiting some very isolated communities. I left with a sense of purpose. I wanted to use my skills and my connections in the publishing world to help bring a book into being that featured the unique lives of the Aboriginal kids I'd met. I wanted those kids to be able to see themselves on the pages.
In the beginning I didn't really know how to achieve my goal but then one day I heard Phil Walley-Stack on the radio talking about belonging to country and everything fell into place.
Phil and I wanted to write a story together as soon as we met, a story about two modern day Aboriginal boys growing up in the remote heart of our beautiful land, a story about two boys with culture and strength, a story about two boys whose hearts are full of love...

This is my co-author, Phil. He's a Noongar man who plays a deadly didgeridoo and knows all about belonging to country.
Have a look at his website and fan page. He's a very cool guy!

And this is our illustrator, Dub Leffler. He's the guy who illustrated The Sorry Day Book.

He is descended from the Bigambul and Mandandanji people of south-west Queensland and he's the country's top indigenous illustrator.
Amazingly, when we were deciding who should illustrate Rocky and Louie I called the librarian who had taken me up to the Kimberley and guess who she was taking up there that year? Yup! Our man Dub.
